DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sisvel and Avanci announced that on March 24 Sisvel joined Avanci in licensing the automotive market, enabling Avanci’s licensing platform to grow to 25 licensors and to streamline licensing, both for Avanci’s recent automotive licensees and future licensees. This collaboration is taking place for 2G, 3G, and 4G essential patents to the automotive industry; Sisvel will license its owned global portfolio of 2G, 3G and 4G standard essential patents to the automotive market through Avanci’s marketplace. With the addition of Sisvel, Avanci’s licensing platform is providing an ever more efficient, one-stop solution to obtain a license to the wireless technology needed for the growing market for connected cars.
“The agreement with Sisvel demonstrates our continued commitment to finding collaborative solutions to make standardized technology more widely available and make licensing simpler and more predictable for the automotive market,” said Kasim Alfalahi, founder and chief executive officer of Avanci. “Ultimately, we’re transforming the way licensing is done by providing a one-stop marketplace to handle licensing in the automotive space that balances the interests of patent owners and car manufacturers. This makes licensing more efficient, reduces risk, increases transparency and streamlines technology sharing for everyone involved.”
“Sisvel is committed to finding efficient forms of intermediation in the markets for technology,” said Mattia Fogliacco, CEO of Sisvel. “We recently created a wholly new form of intermediation for the field Wi-Fi, and now, looking at the automotive market, which is asymmetric compared to the rest of the mobile communication industry, we believe that joining Avanci for this product category will help in reducing the friction in licensing transactions, while bringing well-deserved compensation to the innovators.”
Sisvel Group’s owned entire portfolio of 2G, 3G, and 4G essential patents is now included in all licenses Avanci has granted to date to automobile manufacturers, and will be included in future licenses offered through the Avanci marketplace.
